The way you do one thing

Everybody wants to edit! Well… everybody should edit… it is a natural thing for us to do as humans. We edit our thoughts and feelings almost all the time. Sometimes we have to edit our thoughts on the fly, especially when someone interrupts our story and say: “get to the point”.

All of a sudden your brain goes into hyper mode and you quickly do the math and edit all the non essential parts to get to the point. This process is not all that successful. The person who wants you to get to the point, has already lost faith in your story.

How can you become a better editor? Do you learn all the editing softwares? Do you memorize every shortcut? Maybe it’s editing tutorials or simply software manuals?

To become a better editor, you need to train your mind to always get to the point in the fastest and cleanest way possible. Not in film but in life.

A friends once told me

“The way you do one thing, is the way you do everything.”

Not only did they teach me that phrase but they turned me into an apostle of the thought.

“The way you do one thing is the way you do everything” is an important concept to remember when you are trying to renovate or rebuild yourself.
